Sisterlocks 8 Months In

Hello Loves !

Happy Easter !

It has officially been 8 Months since I’ve had my Sisterlocks installed. How do I feel? I absolutely love them ! Yes , it has been ups and downs. I do not have a loctician , and decided to maintain my locs myself. I feel much closer to them , and the bond is amazing. Now , I’m going to be honest with you all. This scalp issue of mine makes me sooooo mad. I have done every thing I can think of to control this dry scalp , but it keeps happening.  Yes , I drink plenty of water, also I have used all types of dandruff shampoos, still dry scalp. Now tell me , is it true that with sisterlocks this can last up to a year your first year ? It’s totally embarrassing sometimes to scratch. ” Excuse me , while I make it snow “. Lmao.

Well here are a few pics of my locs now

Major growth right? I know ! Lmao. I can not wait to see how long they will be August 13th 2017. I will officially be a year. I will make sure to come bk and post more. I have some major things I’ve been working on for the blog, it’s going to be fiyah!

Until next time ! Be Fabolous !

Sisterlocks Update

Hi guys ! How have you been? I know I haven’t been writing as much as usual, but it’s been so busy around here with my husband being deployed. I am excited to let you know that I did color my sisterlocks.

Yes! I know. Lmao. I’m hardheaded , but I was sure that nothing crazy would happen. I did not let my loctician know I was going to , because I was told I would have had to wait 8 months to a year to color my locs , BE has thus had to settle first. Soooooo, yeah. I got tired of the black and needed some color. I had to really decide on a color that I felt I would want to keep for at least a year because I didn’t want to keep switching colors with this Journey. I decided on my red/orange , brown and black ombré color.

I did not bleach my locs at all! You guys know how I am about using bleach , and I did use a semi parmenant color Adore. I did try the textures and tones first and it didn’t take , only had me looking crazy by the roots. Then I remembered , that color doesn’t work on my head. WOMP WOMP!

For real tho , I love my sisterlocks. This was the best decision I think I made. I was a free flowing natural for 4 years and a half , that journey had to come to an end, and it’s ok. I’m happy that I finally got my sisterlocks , and I plan on rocking the heezy out of them !

Please ! Please ! If you decide to get Sisterlocks listen to your loctician. Don’t be doing what I did , and then have the nerve to get mad at me if something happens. Lmao. I’m not the blame.

Second Guessing This Loc Journey (2 Weeks In)

Two weeks in and I feel like I made the wrong mistake. I even left a bunch of Facebook hair groups , because I started missing my free flowing hair. Let me just say this. If you have the same grade of hair as mine, which is 3b and 3c. FIne and wavy texture, that will easily curl with just water and hair conditioner, locing will make you mad in the beginning. I was told that I would have to come back in a month after my starter locs were installed, um don’t believe it. My hair is fuzzy in the front, on top of that you all know how fast my hair grows. I have so much new growth it isn’t funny. I twist and twist like a bangee, to make sure it stays tight and skinny. One thing I said from the beginning was I didn’t want thick locs, in which i couldn’t get different styles with. I did want sisterlocs, but honestly speaking I’m sorry, I”m not paying $550 for a install on 2-3 inch hair. Micro locs are just as small, and look just as good. I will be able to style any way I want with these.

Oiling now? I have been told so many ways to take care of my locs, and I appreciate all the help , because I’m new to this. Unfortunately, just like starting my natural hair journey, everything that works for someone else might not work for me. I know people who only use oil, and no conditioner, no deep conditioners, and think they know that is proper curly head hair maintenance. Whatever works for you might not work for everyone else. This one fellow loc head says she has been oiling her starter locs, and others were saying that’s a no, no. I know how my head operates, and I think that will be a better option for me as well. Dry scalp will not grow, so I will oil my scalp to make sure i stays nice and healthy. This is week two, and as I stated I’m not very happy. I will be wearing scarfs, wigs, and other hair accessories until I am happy with my length. My head, my journey,my way. Wish me luck!
