I have a new and exciting product that I want to review . Now it’s really not new, but it’s new to my curls. It’s the Loreal EverCurl 6 in 1 Cleansing Balm. Influenster sent me the product to review for free, and to give my honest opinion.
First off it did not have a strong fragrance , which I loved. I hate opening a product to begin sneezing like a nut. The pump in my opinion is too small, which means to get a nice amount of product you have to keep pumping continuously. The consistency is rich and creamy, which I like. It didn’t feel soapy (slippery and sticky). You get a nice small lather just to let you know it has a cleansing agent in it. Then the whole conditioning affect takes over, and you start feeling your hair softening up. Would I use the product again ? Yes! I actually want to try their other products in the EverCurl line now. You do receive a lot of product in the bottle too, so you won’t feel cheated. Try it! Then report bk to me how you liked it!
It’s been a while since I’ve posted and I’m going to be completely honest on why. I ran out of ideas to do with my head. Honest to goodness truth. I sat around and noticed all the bloggers were writing about the same thing , and I didn’t want to do that. I also felt like I let so many of you down when I decided to BC for the second time. ( yeah not what I planned on doing ). Everything happens for a reason , and with the move back home I felt like it was a new journey , so I cut all my hair off. It’s just hair right ? It’ll grow back. 😐
Well here in Indiana it’s taking longer to grow because of this weather. It’s growing faster than most would expect , but I know the rate would had been quicker if I had the Georgia sun and heat. I haven’t been doing my hair regimens like usual either , I just had lost the “umph “.
Will I regain my focus ? Of course! Actually last week it came back when I noticed that the blog page on Facebook had been growing like crazy. I couldn’t believe it. People were referring to my older blog posts and looking for updates , and here I was M.I.A. That woke me up. Why punish my readers because I was being a donkey. Lmao. Yes donkey.
With that being said I will begin writing and posting again. Plus I’m happy to announce that I have began being a fitness advocate for Saba For Life. Make sure you following me on my fitness journey, and I will be open to questions on how u can live a healthier life.
Thanks for all the support. FabCurlies Take 2! 💋
Have you guys been conditioning ? Mmmhmm , don’t lie to me. How many times do I have to say to condition, condition, condition? We all say we want pretty , long , healthy hair , but become too lazy to take proper care of it. Well here is a conditioner I made at home , that was pretty cost efficient.
- Vegetable Glycerine (2 tablespoons)
- Baby Bananas (1 container)
- 1 Raw Egg
- Olive Oil (2 tablespoons)
- Coconut Oil (2 tablespoon)
- Jamaican Black Castor Oil /w Tea Tree ( 2 Tablespoons)
- Light Mayo (1 1/2 cup)
Mix all the ingredients together to a creamy consistency . You don’t want it runny at all, because it will drip and run all while you’re sitting letting your hair benefit from all the yummy nutrients.
Distribute the mixture evenly on your hair , you can even use a coloring brush to get really close to your edges and roots. Put a plastic cap or bag on , and sit under your hair hair steamer for added benefits , if you don’t own one a sit under hair dryer or not is fine as well. I leave my mixture on for a hour or sometimes over night , and then rinse. Follow with a nice cowash.
If you have any questions be sure to ask here or on my Facebook page.
I am so excited to share that my 16month old has starter locs! His journey started on November 30, 2014. He did cry during the process, and wanted his blankie. All in all I think it went well. His dad and I decided to let him habe them now , then based on how society is one he gets in middle school we’ll decide to cut them or not .
Journey Started 11/30/14
I am going to wash his locs in a month, and till then mist with the lemon and sea salt mixture. I really don’t think he’ll have a problem locing since his hair is like a 4B. The length we aiming for is shoulder length, then anything longer we will cut off. If you would like to follow his journey follow on instagram @princebaby_amir.
Happy New Year Loves!
I just can’t believe that I have been natural for two years! This has been, and still is a magical journey for me. Being natural isn’t easy, and I won’t sit here and tell you it is. It takes a lot of dedication, and error I must add. The end results are totally worth it though. With that being said I decided to start this year off with a few tips for my loyal readers.
1. If you plan on going natural please make sure you’re the type of person that will sit and take the time to oil, and condition your hair. I can’t count how many people I see walking around natural with dehydrated curls that look so bad. Remember I said it takes dedication.
2.Make water your best friend for your curls. Spritz your hair with water daily to add moisture. It’s especially great to use when you want to seal. Yes, I said seal. Many curlies don’t realize just how much plain old water can do to help your curls grow, and shine.
3. You don’t have to run out and spend tons on hair products to get beautiful curls. I know a lot of us be tempted from watching our hair crushes on YouTube, and or looking on Instagram at other naturals. Stop. You do not want to be a PJ (product junkie). You will have all these products that you will never know if your hair actually like or not, due to the fact that you hadn’t tried them for a month regularly. Find you a nice hair butter that list butter and water as the first two ingredients for starters. Grab you some Herbal Essences any one that says moisturizing, and go from there. Being natural isn’t suppose to leave your pockets empty, it’s actually should be a stress free low-budget, beautiful way of styling.
4. Be your own fashion icon! Have fun with it! Make your own natural image, and feel good while you’re doing it. A lot of us are copying the same look, and after a while its like “ok, didn’t I see this pic before?”
So there we have it! A few tips and advice from me! I wish you all a Happy New Year and beautiful curls!
Everytime I think about doing this challenge with myself I giggle. What Challenge Free? Honey, this cayenne pepper mess. Now let me say I did do my castor oil challenge with a few naturals from CurlyNikki last July, and been using it ever since. My mane loves it, so I’m all happy with it. To give you all some quick info let me tell you why scientist say that this really works. By now you all should know me, I’m not one to listen to whoever on Instagram, or these forums because they have long hair, I really do my research. Red pepper contains capsicum which is a skin irritant that will allow for rapid cell construction, improved blood circulation and hair re-growth. The improvement in blood circulation is important to stimulate the hair follicles and prevent DHT (dihydrotestosterone) from attaching to the hair follicles. Why we don’t want that to happen?
If DHT is formed and attaches to the hair follicle, it will block nutrients from getting to the hair strand and hair follicle. By doing this it will eventually cause the hair strand to fall out and the hair follicle to die. Now here is when I feel a little bad. They experimented with this on mice. Yes! They did! Well it worked! Those little bald spots filled up on their little bodies like no tomorrow.
With all that being said, I’m going to start tomorrow with this challenge. I will do updates every two weeks with the front of my head, since that’s the main part I want to grow. The question is how long will I do this? Hmm, everyone did a month, so I’m thinking it would be fun to do it longer, just to be different. Let‘s say till I have my son, which is the beginning of August.
Whole Cayenne Peppers
Place the whole peppers in the dark jar with your favorite oil covering them for ten days. After ten days remove the peppers and use the oil. It is totally on you how you want to do this. Use it as a deep conditioner aid, or as a leave in. How many days a week to use? Again, totally up to you. Now you might see various ways to doing this, but do the one best for you. I’ll be posting a follow up sometime this week.
Sitting here in my living room looking at all the women in this swap forum I participate in an idea hit me! A lot of us sleep on products in our ground stores thinking they don’t work, because they aren’t as expensive as other ones we see our natural hair idols using. Bull crap! I happen to use them and the others, and honestly I get better results or the same results as if I payed $18 for a bottle of conditioner. I myself was like that when I first big chopped. I was thinking I had to use all these brands everyone else was using, and was spending tons. It took my mother to ask me why was I spending so much when she use to use these reasonably priced products on my head, and my hair was super healthy. You all should had seen my face when she said that. Yes, she was right.
Bringing us back to now I’ve decided that all my product reviews will be on products that can be found in Walmart, CVS, and Walgreens. Let’s just be truthful with ourselves for a minute. I would rather be spending a bulk of my money on shoes and clothes to look fly in with my hair dos, wouldn’t you? So with this little slap of reality from me, we’re going to start getting it crackin economically. Let’s not hurt our wallets too bad if we don’t have to.
A lot of times when people think of the natural hair community they image us with hip huggers, bright-colored lipsticks, and big ol circle earrings. Do you get offended by this, or do you embrace it because you yourself thinks that’s what its all about? Scrolling through a lot of our social media websites I do see women who are natural coloring their hair these bold colors, and rocking fashion in the many colors of the rainbows. I can’t help but to wonder were these women the same ones who fought for attention back in the day. Are they using natural hair to stand out amongst their creamy crack user girlfriends?
Don’t get me wrong it is entertaining to look at until one person take it too far, or many. A lot of these women are copying looks they see on the runway or in magazines, sorry that is not a look to wear out everyday. I thought being natural was wanting to make sure your hair got the proper nourishment and remained fly without a perm, for me that is.
Also, what gets to be a bother is when natural hair communities makes up all these rules on their own telling you what a natural is supposed to do, and not do. Hello? Who made you Chief Hair No Lye? This is a major turn off and DO give the natural hair community a bad reputation. Stop listening and following everyone that another person like just because the majority loves them. My advice is to find you a natural hair beauty that you can relate to, that you feel YOU can learn the most from. Stop running on Instagram counting followers to pick your hair crush, some of those women need to go back and get their hair together.
I hope I didn’t make anyone upset, and if I did I’m sorry. My blog is o keeping it real, and giving honest reviews. This has been a hair check for most of you, are you being naturally yourself?
I finally used my Aztec Clay on my hair and face. After seeing my blog friend KinkyNappyCurly’s post on her blog, I said let me get up and do this. I mixed two different batches to use on my hair and face. For my hair I used Apple Cider Vinegar, and water for my face mixture.
Here’s a pic of the hair ingredients
Now be careful not to use too much clay, it does stretches a lot. I began to add to my hair first making sure to section it in four parts so I covered all basis of my hair.
Funny thing is you feel it getting hard almost immediately. It was easy to apply, and control. Next, my face application. Warning ,these pictures.might scare you. One of my daughter ran away screaming when she saw me. Haha!
I left it on my hair for 30 minutes and face for 15 minutes. Once it began to harden on my face, I wasn’t able to talk or move my face. I looked like a statue just standing around scaring the crap out my daughter.
I rinsed my hair and face at the same.time in my kitchen sink using warm water. You don’t want to use cool because it makes the clay harder to come off. After rinsing out I did my moisture conditioning recipe I came up with. This moisturizing recipe has my hair so bouncy and full of life every time. Here’s my results at the end with no product
Love ! Love! Love! !Now mind you my hair is wavy not so much curly, so I was happy that the clay brought out my waves. My hair was super clean, and my scalp tingled. It got the job done for real. Now my face pics,
Look at my skin! It wasn’t all that bad in the beginning, but I can look at it and tell the clay gave it a good deep cleaning. I will be using this on my head once a week, and face and neck twice a week.
I don’t like that I had to find my own ratio of water or acv to add to it.
Plus I think I left it on my face too blasted long, because it broke me out in tiny bumps. Next time for my face mixture I will add evoo to my mixture.
