I have a new and exciting product that I want to review . Now it’s really not new, but it’s new to my curls. It’s the Loreal EverCurl 6 in 1 Cleansing Balm.  Influenster sent me the product to review for free, and to give my honest opinion.

First off it did not have a strong fragrance , which I loved. I hate opening a product to begin sneezing like a nut. The pump in my opinion is too small, which means to get a nice amount of product you have to keep pumping continuously. The consistency is rich and creamy, which I like. It didn’t feel soapy (slippery and sticky). You get a nice small lather just to let you know it has a cleansing agent in it. Then the whole conditioning affect takes over, and you start feeling your hair softening up. Would I use the product again ? Yes! I actually want to try their other products in the EverCurl line now. You do receive a lot of product in the bottle too, so you won’t feel cheated. Try it! Then report bk to me how you liked it!

Kisses,

Tell Your Curls To Spring Like Spring!

Happy Spring Everyone!

I am so excited for this season, because this is the time I start to get most of my hair growth. Plus I love seeing all the naturals wearing flowers in their curls, even if I hate wearing them in mine. Today was my protein treatment weekend, and I really needed it. I have just ended my protective styling week, and needed to let my hair breathe for a minute. I used my Aphrogee products as usual. If some of you all don’t know which ones I use , its the whole Reconstructor line. Its amazing!

After I rinsed out the reconstructor I had to shampoo, which I only do every six weeks after I use this. Next, I apply my moisture balance by the same company as well so that it can add the moisture back int my curls. Please follow the directions when using this products, because they will allow you to achieve the results you re aiming for, let’s hope that is shinier and healthier curls. I say the whole duration of this takes about a good 45 minutes to an hour for me, only because I do use my hair steamer , and hand dryer for some of the process. Once all this is done follow up with your oils, leave-in, moisturizer and or styler of your choice. Hope this helps!

Always,

Global Coutour 1

My name is Patricia and I am the Owner and Designer of Global Couture (http://globalcouture.net). I am originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan and currently reside in St. Louis, MO. During the day, I am a tenured college counselor and full time doctoral candidate completing my dissertation.

How did you get started?

I am natural and love it! I don’t have the exact date I went natural but I believe my last relaxer was 2009. I transitioned with Senegalese twist for nearly two years and finally mini chopped my relaxed ends May 21, 2011.  I decided to ‘go natural’ because I was tired of dealing with breakage and bad hair days from relaxers.

I decided to begin Global Couture 2 years ago, when I noticed I couldn’t find any accessories or natural hair apparel (mainly T shirts) I wanted to wear, that reflected my new consciousness.

Global Coutour 2

What is your current regimen? What three styles do you wear most often?

I co wash (conditioner only) my hair in the shower about 2-3 times a week. When it’s wet, I apply a leave in and gel. I’ll let it air dry and I’m out the door. I try to deep condition at least once a week using the bagging method overnight. The three styles I wear are my afro, my afro, and an afro puff! LOL. I am the wash n go queen and just let my hair do whatever it wants. I love updos’ but I can’t style or flat twist to save my life 🙂

Where do you find inspiration for your brand?

I would describe Global Couture as fresh, diverse, and colorful. Traveling is my passion. I add stamps in my passport every chance I get! I came up with the name Global Couture and logo because I want my brand to reflect fresh, diverse, eclectic beautyand styles; I appreciate from around the world.

Much of my inspiration for Global Couture (http://globalcouture.net) comes from the various natural hair communities (via blogs, natural hair meet-ups, and YouTube) which I so joyously joined nearly two years ago.  Global Couture is an expression of my love for travel, self-exploration, cultural expression, and creativity. Global Couture designs hair accessories, jewelry, & apparel for the bold, chic, and culturally curious. Global Couture is trying to spread the word about embracing your natural hair and its reflection of our history. “Loving your hair represents loving yourself.” Love your curls, if they are wavy, curly, kinky or coily.

Going back to my roots” during this natural hair journey has been truly self-affirming. Through this journey, I fell in love with the freedom, self-expression, and renewed confidence fostered by a simple ‘hairdo’ change. I found quickly it was more than a hair style change, it became a lifestyle change. I began to take more risks outside of the expected and mainstream forms in beauty, hairstyles, clothing, and accessories. I believe this ‘mini’ transformation paired with my travels through South American, Asia, Europe and the Caribbean has added to my appreciation for various forms of beauty, personal expression and culture expression.

What is your ultimate vision for Global Couture? Where do you see the brand in 5 years?

I currently sell T-shirts, hair accessories, bow ties, earrings, necklaces, totes, iphone cases, and curly girl mugs. I have over 200 additional concepts in the works for my T shirt apparel and accessory line. You can expect to see those in addition to the 93 products that are now available on my website.  I also have a line of wood, gold and silver accessories coming soon!

My vision for Global Couture is to encourage others to embrace the natural beauty in all of us from the inside-out.  I want to continue to grow my business and expand partnerships with local charities.

“We Gon Sweat This Hair Out, Literally!”

Everytime I think about doing this challenge with myself I giggle. What Challenge Free? Honey, this cayenne pepper mess. Now let me say I did do my castor oil challenge with a few naturals from CurlyNikki last July, and been using it ever since. My mane loves it, so I’m all happy with it. To give you all some quick info let me tell you why scientist say that this really works. By now you all should know me, I’m not one to listen to whoever on Instagram, or these forums because they have long hair, I really do my research. Red pepper contains capsicum which  is a skin irritant that will allow for rapid cell construction, improved blood circulation and hair re-growth. The improvement in blood circulation is important to stimulate the hair follicles and prevent DHT (dihydrotestosterone) from attaching to the hair follicles. Why we don’t want that to happen?

If DHT is formed and attaches to the hair follicle, it will block nutrients from getting to the hair strand and hair follicle. By doing this it will eventually cause the hair strand to fall out and the hair follicle to die. Now here is when I feel a little bad. They experimented with this on mice. Yes! They did! Well it worked! Those little bald spots filled up on their little bodies like no tomorrow.

With all that being said, I’m going to start tomorrow with this challenge. I will do updates every two weeks with the front of my head, since that’s the main part I want to grow. The question is how long will I do this? Hmm, everyone did a month, so I’m thinking it would be fun to do it longer, just to be different. Let‘s say till I have my son, which is the beginning of August.

The Recipe

Whole Cayenne Peppers

Dark Jar

Favorite Oil

Rosemary Oil

Directions

Place the whole peppers in the dark jar with your favorite oil covering them for ten days. After ten days remove the peppers and use the oil. It is totally on you how you want to do this. Use it as a deep conditioner aid, or as a leave in. How many days a week to use? Again, totally up to you. Now you might see various ways to doing this, but do the one best for you. I’ll be posting a follow up sometime this week.

                                                                                            Love,

Fabolous Curlie Kids Hairstyles!

Here is a two strand twist front, with a top knot done on Type 1 hair. Even though this natural kid’s hair is straight her mom was still able to get the twist to hold. The key to getting the twist really tight is to get as close to the scalp as possible. With this hair style she can easily tie it down at night, and remain cute during play time. I think this is a great style for a natural of any age.

TWO SNAPS AND A WASHNGO

Now was I feeling myself or what with this washngo?! I have never been able to get this look before. This style is one of the reasons I became natural, I knew I could rock this. The products used in achieving this look was H2O, Samy’s Lightweight Curl Defining Cream, and my oil spritz. The definition is head on, and I couldn’t be happier.
