Hello Beauties!

This month’s company feature happens to be a natural body crafter located in Indiana. Her bars are wonderful in size, and believe me you will get plenty for your dollars. I was super surprised that when I picked up one of her body bars I was actually able to guess what fragrance it was.Oh honey! Yess! Pick up the Heavenly Rose Body Bar and it was like you had your face in a dozen roses. I can’t wait to see more from Marlin, CEO and Master Mixtress of Suga~Lush! Thanks for working with Fabolous Curlies! Now let’s get into it!

How Did You Get Started Making Body Treats?

Well I have worked in the day spa industry many years ago as a nail tech at one time and was exposed to the skin care industry. During that time I would get spa treatments and enjoy how the products made my skin feel. The products used were of very good quality, but still was tailored to my sensitive skin needs. After leaving the industry I still wanted to pamper my skin so time later I began making body treatments for myself, then for family and friends then as gifts. Before I knew it I was getting requests for these body treats and Suga~Lush was born.

What are your products made from, are they 100% natural?

Suga~Lush products are hand crafted and many of the ingredients like the herbs, vegetables, fruit or botanicals that are used in my products are grown in my garden and picked with my own hands. And when I make any of my products they are made with care and love.

CEO Of SugaLush

Which product out of your line is your favorite?

That’s like asking a Mother which one of her children is her favorite lol. I love what I do, making quality natural products. My family and I use the products that I make and I enjoy all of them. Each one offers something enjoyable. But if I had to I would say the fragrance free, the milk soaps. I love products that have milk in them and bath soaks it’s very soothing to me.

Is Suga~Lush products safe for children to use?

My products are natural. They are naturally handcrafted with quality ingredients that will leave your skin feeling clean and moisturized. As I stated before some of the ingredients in my products come right from my own garden and some ingredients are organic also. I like use herbs, natural oils and butters, essential oils that will nourish the skin as well as pure fragrances, and natural colorants. I use natural preservatives like vitamin e and make small batches to maintain the quality and freshness of the products. I have some items now that children can use like the fragrance free line.

Will there be a children’s line in the future, because my girls loves smell goods?

In the future I will have products that will be directed to children, but right now I do have products that are fragrance free and are made with milk. I also have a few products that are for people with skin sensitivity like eczema or psoriasis.

What advice can you give someone who would love to start their own business, but is afraid?

Trust and believe in yourself. Have a good support system and love what you do. If you love what you do it will never fell like work.

Do you love what you do?

Yes! I love creating and coming up with new things to do or improve something or simply work my craft.  I’m like a kid in a candy store when I get to mixing things up in what my family calls the lab and me the mad scientist LOL.

Well thank you Marlin  so much for doing this blog feature. I’m sure that this will get your company out there, and my subbies will sure contact you, because they love smelling good.lol. You can contact Suga~Lush at sugalushco@gmail.com for ordering, and more information. I will include some pictures of some of the many products she has. 1. How long have you been natural?

I’ve been natural for about 2 years now. Not really counting lol.

2. Is taking care of your hair easier or harder than before when you were processed?

Being natural is so much easier! All I have to do is co-wash my hair and use a curling milk or smoothie, and I’m out the door!    I let my hair air dry. When I had relaxed hair, I had to straighten my hair almost  every day because I liked my hair bone straight.

3. Name your top three products you can’t live without.

Shea Moisture Curling Smoothie

Argan Oil

CLEAR hair and scalp conditioners

4. What advice would you give someone your age that was considering going natural?

Going natural is one of the healthiest things you could do for your hair, especially for people like me who constantly dye their hair. Processing hair over chemically colored hair is not good. Start now!Even    if it’s cutting off the relax hair by an inch or two a month, it’s better than nothing. I’m telling you, the results are worth it,natural hairstyles are versatile possibilities are endless.

As I Am! Doing It This weekend!

Cheers to the weekend!!

Guess what products I have bought that I have been dying to try ever since I did my BIG CHOP?!! AS I AM NATURALLY!! Whoop Whoop!! So a month after I big chopped I had got a coupon from Sally’s for 20% off a item, and I got the As I Am Twist Defining Cream. Then right after I received a series of coupons for free products. Then I got the As I Am Shampoo. At the time I was doing the CG method since my Fabolous Curlies sister NaturallyChar was giving it rave reviews. I liked the CG method, but found out Free needed her cones.

I have been literally lusting for these products, do you hear me? it’s totally pathetic, lol.

  • As I Am Moisture Milk
  • As I Am Curling Jelly

Next I’m getting the gel, and the coconut co-wash. The only reason I didn’t get those two now is because I’m happy with what I’m using for those two purposes anyway. If it ain’t broke don’t try to fix it right? So wish me luck everyone!! I’m on a total beauty experiment this weekend ,even with my nails!! Stay posted, because this blog is about to get interesting!

I’m A Curly Girl- By NaturallyChar

Your probably wondering what in the world is she talking about. When I first big chopped March 7th 2012, I had the slightest idea where to begin. I was on sites like Curly Nikki and NaturallyCurly getting an overload of information. When it came down to me actually putting this info to use I drew a blank. So, I was cowashing like crazy with Herbal Essence Hello Hydration and using Eco Styler gel. Both are good products, but I knew my hair needed more. Thus came upon me the Curly Girl Method. Now I know plenty of you have heard of it, but many are still not sure what the whole method is about. The Curly Girl Method was put together by Lorraine Massey. If you want to know more about her visit this site: http://www.devachansalon.com/about/staff.  The process is all about eliminating sulfates, silicones, parabens, mineral and castor oil from your hair regime. You might give me the yuck face when I say this, but I haven’t shampooed my hair since March 2012 when I started the method. Who says that shampoo is the only way to clean your hair? I clean my hair with conditioner and either leave it in my hair or apply a leave-in conditioner.  Since black hair loves water this works for ME. Depending on your hair it may take between 2-8 weeks for your hair to adjust. This process has helped with moisture, curl clumping, and overall hair health. So, feel free to inbox or just ask what questions you have on being a CG.

Peace. Love and Water

WARNING: The CG Method isn’t for everyone. Some people’s hair actually does well with silicones.

Opening The Door To Curlie Greatness

Hi! I’m happy to invite everyone to my blog here on WordPress. I’m not some sort of expert or anything, just your normal everyday, around the way CurlieGyrl. Here I will be discussing my natural hair journey that I started on Dec 13th 2011, and have been feeling great ever since. My last perm was Sept 30, 2011, and right after I had done it, I looked at myself in the mirror and felt lost. Why? Well you see I’ve always have had hair down my back when my mother had taken care of it, but as I grew older I wanted to experiment like the other girls. Yes! Yes! Creamy Crack I ran to, and long extensions that belonged to Singshu, and some Indian girl I did not know about, nor cared about. You can say it was all about looking like the video chicks, and models we saw in our fashion magazines. I went to cosmetology school, and worked in a Korean Beauty Supply all the way through my training. I was in heaven!!! All the weaves, hair coloring, and makeup I could handle. Why hello to the superficial me.

So after years of living that type of hair life, I decided I wanted my natural hair back. I didn’t add any tracks that door nor comb my hair, I just sat with a scarf on for days. I was confused. How do I go natural? What’s the steps to being natural? I was so lost. Cosmetology school only really teach you about styling processed hair, I had to learn all over again, and go back to my roots……literally. I began looking up information on various websites, and decided I could do it. I could actually BIG CHOP! So on that day of Dec 13th I cut all my hair off, and felt FREE!!

I even joined a popular hair forum, CurlyNikki. There I began to talk to other natural women, suggested tips here and there. Futhermore, the best part was when I decided to start my own natural hair group with the women I clicked with the most, we are the FABOLOUSCURLIES!! Which we truly are. So that’s my story to how I became natural. Hopefully some of you can identify with me, and will subscribe. I wish you all well!
