Maybelline Nail Strips- Are They Worth It?

This is a review on the Maybelline Nail Strips that I purchased with my own money. I have been fascinated with doing my nails a lot lately, and have been purchasing nail polishes, and tools out the behind. I had been noticing that everyone was giving these nail strips a try, and for the most part they said they liked them. Me being me was like I’m going to buy me a pack and test them myself, before I tell all my readers about them.

Here’s the ones I purchased at Walmart for about $5.99Maybelline Nail StripsContents

18 Nail Strips

1 Emery Board

1 Plastic Stick (to make sure the sticker goes on smooth)

Fast design for when you’re heading out, and need your nails done quick

A lot of different designs to choose from

Great for a person who can’t paint their nails worth a lick 🙂

Great for someone who constantly want to change up their nails without buying a ton of nail polishes

The price

18 strips! Not even enough for two applications!

Instructions not as great as they could be

Bottom Line

I will not be spending my hard-earned money on these strips again. In my book for as much as they charge for these things I should had got 20 strips, not 18. The other thing that upset me is that they don’t say not to apply to nails if you have on a base coat. If you do be prepared for your strips to not lay correct, and they will start to peel up almost immediately. I’m lucky that I noticed this when I did my first nail, and was apprehensive on taking my base coat off. Sucking my teeth I went ahead and applied them to my now naked nails. The sizes they give you do not match with the correct finger you would think it would, so be prepared to match up strips by turning them upside down to actually cover a whole nail. Once I got that together I was happy with my results.

Maybelline Nail Strips 2

These strips lasted a total of three days before the paint on the strips started coming off, then they started peeling around the edges. Hmm. I’m a mom so I have to do odd jobs around the house, and deal with two hyper toddlers, did they not think that perhaps more moms would be buying these fast manicure fixes? Um No! Couldn’t had. I’m sure placing my hand in water is what helped with the peeling also, but who doesn’t put their hand in water almost everyday? No, this product did not make it onto my summer must haves list. Maybe you all should give it a try and tell me how they worked for you, I’d love to hear.

Are Some ladies Taking Natural Too Far? Part 2

A lot of times when people think of the natural hair community they image us with hip huggers, bright-colored lipsticks, and big ol circle earrings. Do you get offended by this, or do you embrace it because you yourself thinks that’s what its all about? Scrolling through a lot of our social media websites I do see women who are natural coloring their hair these bold colors, and rocking fashion in the many colors of the rainbows. I can’t help but to wonder were these women the same ones who fought for attention back in the day. Are they using natural hair to stand out amongst their creamy crack user girlfriends?

Don’t get me wrong it is entertaining to look at until one person take it too far, or many. A lot of these women are copying looks they see on the runway or in magazines, sorry that is not a look to wear out everyday. I thought being natural was wanting to make sure your hair got the proper nourishment and remained fly without a perm, for me that is.

Also, what gets to be a bother is when natural hair communities makes up all these rules on their own telling you what a natural is supposed to do, and not do. Hello? Who made you Chief Hair No Lye? This is a major turn off and DO give the natural hair community a bad reputation. Stop listening and following everyone that another person like just because the majority loves them. My advice is to find you a natural hair beauty that you can relate to, that you feel YOU can learn the most from. Stop running on Instagram counting followers to pick your hair crush, some of those women need to go back and get their hair together.

I hope I didn’t make anyone upset, and if I did I’m sorry. My blog is o keeping it real, and giving honest reviews. This has been a hair check for most of you, are you being naturally yourself?

Garnier BB Cream ” One Of My Summer Must For Oily Skin”

Thanks to BzzAgent I was invited to take part in this Campaign! I did not pay anything for this product, and I’m just reviewing it. This is my own opinion of the product.

First let me say that I have oily skin. Yes, Yes! I have told you guys plenty of times that I have a problem with this. My makeups have to be for the oily skin individual, and I keep to the same face regimen or I’d be in a messed up situation. Don’t laugh, I’m like so serious. Now I have been using this BB cream from Garnier in medium/deep not deep. Since I’m chocolate most people assumed I would always choose deep. Um, no no. Why? I had this tiny inkling feeling that the coloring might be off for me only because I had saw some videos on Youtube. I prayed and prayed I was right, and Viola! I was!  Here’s a quick tip if you happen to pick a cream too light. All you have to do is add a dime size of your regular foundation to it and you should be okay.

The Texture– It is smooth, and silky. Trust me when I say a tad bit goes a long way. I think you’d be able to wear this one container for like six months if you do it right. I know I have another container that I’ve had almost six months now, and it’s still a lot in there.

Price– Remember I got this tube for free, but I did go and do some research and it’s running between $10-$12. I don’t know how some of your pockets are, but I was like ookkkayy. Hmm.

Pros- The oily skin one is the truth! Listen, when I tell you I went the whole day oil free, I went the whole day oil free. I did put on me a  mineral powder at the end, but that’s something we should all do anyway to set the makeup.

A small amount is all that’s needed, it spreads very well for the whole face. I would say a quarter size is more than enough, but that was just for me. You all know how you like your makeup so it’s really up to you.

It didn’t stain my fingers when some got on them if any. I was able to rinse what little got on me with no problem.

Cons- The price really isn’t that cheap if you’re a student or someone on a budget. I know for myself I’m subscribed to numerous boxes and have to be careful not to send my hubby into a hissy fit.  Looking in your local newspaper or magazines for coupons, I always see them for Garnier everywhere.

I rate this product a 9

It would be perfect for summer when you want to be out in the sun, or walk around downtown. Great product!

I Got The Galaxy On My Nails

If you are a subscriber to my instagram @Silkremi, then you have seen my latest nail creation. I did the galaxy finally! I have been trying to these nails for days now, and never got around to it. It’s easy to do, and you can use any color combination you like. Here’s my colors used

Top and Base Coat, A White, A light Pink and Silver Glitter, A Dark Blue, A bright Pink, and Black ( not shown) for my base
A makeup sponge is needed also.

To get started just paint each nail with a color you want for your base. I used black so I could have a more dramatic effect. Now u will take any color you decide and apply it on your nail in a small dot going in any direction you choose. Work fast with the sponge blotting in the direction to give the paint a textured look. Keep doing this overlaying the colors in any order you like. When you’re done adding the colors you will have your galaxy. This next parr is important, this is to add your stars at the end. Take the white nail polish and using the brush carefully dot it on your nails in places you want the star look. (Dots). Take your top coat and go over your nail, and you should have a high shine and immediately see your creation.  Apply the glitter polish you chose to add to the stars.

There you have it! Send pics of your creations so I can showcase them on the blog. I’d love to see what you all come up with. Much love! ♥♥♥♥♥

CoverGirl You Done Got Me!

Yes Yes! Let me just say that I am loving this new campaign I’m in thanks to BzzAgent. It’s the benefit of great products like this for free that makes me write these reviews for you guys. The first lip color I tried today was the CoverGirl Blastflipstick in Minx 855. Honey, Honey, let me tell you this lipstick is so moisturizing it ain’t even funny. It has this high gloss effect to it, that matches with the bold colors to make your lips look fierce! I did get three of the colors, but you know each tube has two different colors for you to rock. They were going for the whole wear one during day, and the other one at night when you party. Now you all know me, I wanna look good all day everyday wearing whatever I want, so I mixed both colors today. I did my updo to go with the lipstick, now I’m really feeling myself! CoverGirl didn’t play with this one, great product! Thanks BzzAgent! Also, if any of you would like a $2.00 coupon for one just comment and I’ll send you one out, or upload it!

Matte Nail Polish

Hey everyone!

I decided to add different points of interest to the blog, because well , I do have other things going on with me. For example, the other night I was sitting on the phone with one of my Fabolous Curlie sisters T, hunched over my laptop shopping for nail polish. The funny thing is I always tend to look at sites on the net with a purpose just to see who has styles that I haven’t seen a million people wear. Anyway, I saw these cool nails on this one chick that looked like they were suede. I leaned closer to the screen in awe. Matte. Now I do have a deep obsession with matte lipsticks, I’ll talk about that on the follow-up article to this one, but back to the nail polish. Next, I immediately went on YouTube to hear the reviews on different brands out there. I’m sad to say that most of the reviews were the same except one that actually showed four different brands on her nails. I was intrigued. Now curlies, you all know I’m a big pj, even before going natural , so this was nothing new for me to run and try to find a store near me that sold the polishes. NONE!! Are you kidding me? Of course your girl did the next reasonable thing, la la la “Ebay” BINGO!!

I did not like the prices though, they could keep that $9.00 holla. I set out the next day dragging hubby along with me combing the streets of Athens looking for this matte nail polish. I started getting irritated because not one person in these stores even knew what it was much longer heard of it. Geeze! after going to a total of nine stores I went home with my curly hair drooping . I was defeated. In the store that is. Now I don’t want to make this a long story so I’ll just tell you that I ordered from Ebay ,to turn around and run smack dead into a brand at Wal-Mart the next day. ARE YOU SERIOUS!!?? WAL-MART!! I bought two bottles, just in case. lol. Curlies I know you feel me with this. We all know we need our earrings, and polishes to go with our hair. DON”T FRONT, KEEP IT REAL! I will be writing back with pictures so that you can see which brand is the best out of the two I have. Until then loves,
