30 Day Facial Challenge Pictorial – Suga~Lush

When I relocated back up north my face started breaking out bad. I haven’t had such a bad breakout since my early teen years on my chin. Below you can see how bad it was . Suga~Lush came out with a facial beauty box that is great for normal, oily, and dry skin. She contacted me and asked did I mind doing a 30 Day Facial Challenge with her products .

                                   Honey Glazed Carrot Facial Bar
                                                 Facial Scrub
                                                   Beauty Oil

                                                         Day 1

                                                        Day 2

                                                      Day 10

                                                       Day 15

BAM! Lol! Yes I see difference! Seriously! My skin is glowing and the breakout has stopped . I was using my facial bar every day, and then the facial scrub I used every day for the first week , and then went to every other three days . My beauty oil I used 3 dropper fulls, and made sure to pay attention to my t-zone area . The sides of my nose are prone to being extra dry.

How Does It Compare To Charcoal Grey ?
Now I love that Charcoal Grey Bar, but I think I’m adding this Honey Glazed Carrot Bar to my fav list. I liked the rich lather, and the smell was awesome. I even made sure to rub it in my hands to see if the lather was good.

Did The Beauty Oil Really Work?
Some oils are great for skin, they will heal the heck out of some dry , cracked, ugly skin. I used the oil without thought , only because I know that some of the ingredients I used already before. Honestly, I didn’t start to see the oil work until week two.

Facial Scrub
The scrub comes with its directions on the packaging, but u can make it as thin or thick as you want to. I made mine thick , so that means I used less water. In the beginning you will experience purging of the skin (tiny small bumps), but that’s normal. It’s only removing the toxins from the skin, that is what you want it to do. After about a week of using the product it stops.

Suga~Lush Facial Beauty Box Ordering Information
The Suga~Lush facial beauty box comes with a facial healing bar of your choice Honey Glazed Carrot, Oat & Honey, Charcoal Grey. A package of the facial scrub, and a 4oz bottle of the facial beauty oil.
You can order from the website
I think its a wonderful box of great products that actually work, and is 100% natural in ingredients.

Thank you Suga~Lush for allowing me to work with you again. Always a pleasure!

Allegra – Stylist and Certified Loctition

Brian Da Barber – Barber

Brian is an awesome barber that is able to cut, sketch in any design into the head. He has been cutting hair for 7 years, and has even begun to dabble in natural hair. I got my eyebrows done by him, and they were amazing. He cut them with a straight edge blade. Not too many people are able to get each brow the same, but he did. I was a tad bit nervous because I didn’t tell him exactly how I wanted my brow, but showing his skills he was able to cut my brows perfect for the shape of my face.

His prices aren’t steep at all, and I think that that says a lot. He is making sure that he is able to help the black community stay looking fresh. His booth is located directly on the left side of the shop once u step in on the back wall, it’s not easy to miss.

Let me say that once I sat in her chair I was comfortable, and relaxed. She explained to me the locing process, and her energy was amazing. Sometimes when you are meeting a new stylist for the first time u feel agitated, and just plain nervous. “Is she going to mess up my hair?”

“Will I like it?” Not with Allegra, we laughed, joked and ate. It was an awesome experience. I was especially happy when I noticed she was natural herself, and she had that fierce look I love. I knew immediately that my hair was in good hands, naturals know the natural struggle. Let me give you some info about my locs. My locs were started on Oct 18, 2014, using the coil method. I have over 300 locs in my head, and during the process we both laughed at who was going to count them. If you want beautiful locs that will remain to shine throughout the weeks of retwisting, visit Alllegra. I have had my locs for two weeks now and they are still nice and glossy once I do the steps for maintenance in the am, like she instructed. The whole process was no longer than four hours, due to the fact I have micro locs. Depending on the size loc you want the time will vary.

Beeswax, and Gel?

Allegra has a special concoction that she uses exclusively for her clients that you can’t get anywhere else. She has been using this product that she formulated herself, and will be working towards selling it in the near future.

I was told that you should not have to have your locs retwisted every two weeks! A month in between visits is perfectly fine, and healthy. If your locs are washing out and you feel that your journey is a headache, you’re at the wrong stylist. All you should be doing is twisting the ends of your locs to make sure you’re training them.

IT IS HIGHLY SUGGESTED THAT YOU DO NOT WASH YOUR LOCS FOR A MONTH!Those are a few helpful tips to help you get started in your journey, and kick off your researching on locs. I suggest that you read up on locs before you get them. Remember that everyone’s head is different everyone’s journey will definatly be different.  DO WHATS RIGHT FOR YOU!!! YOU KNOW YOUR HEAD.

How long have you been a crafter ?

Do you make  pieces for children as well?
Yes I make items for children as well. Custom orders can be placed for children items
What type of materials do you use ? Are some hypoallergenic ?
I use acrylic yarn, cotton yarn various charms, thread and glass beads. Yes all of the items that I use are hypoallergenic
Do you see yourself going further with this or is this just a hobby?
Yes I see myself going further with this. Crocheting it is not just a hobby but a way of life, as it provides me with an income as well as a way to relax.
What is your favorite piece to crochet?
My favorite items to crochet are accessories. They generally don’t take long because of their size so I can produce more of them at a faster rate
I see you’re natural? How do your pieces add flair to someone’s natural identity ?
I definitely do pieces as flag to someones natural hair identity. I make hair bows and flower hair clips as well as satin lined hair beanies for those lazy or bad hair days.

Hello Beauties!

This month’s company feature happens to be a natural body crafter located in Indiana. Her bars are wonderful in size, and believe me you will get plenty for your dollars. I was super surprised that when I picked up one of her body bars I was actually able to guess what fragrance it was.Oh honey! Yess! Pick up the Heavenly Rose Body Bar and it was like you had your face in a dozen roses. I can’t wait to see more from Marlin, CEO and Master Mixtress of Suga~Lush! Thanks for working with Fabolous Curlies! Now let’s get into it!

How Did You Get Started Making Body Treats?

Well I have worked in the day spa industry many years ago as a nail tech at one time and was exposed to the skin care industry. During that time I would get spa treatments and enjoy how the products made my skin feel. The products used were of very good quality, but still was tailored to my sensitive skin needs. After leaving the industry I still wanted to pamper my skin so time later I began making body treatments for myself, then for family and friends then as gifts. Before I knew it I was getting requests for these body treats and Suga~Lush was born.

What are your products made from, are they 100% natural?

Suga~Lush products are hand crafted and many of the ingredients like the herbs, vegetables, fruit or botanicals that are used in my products are grown in my garden and picked with my own hands. And when I make any of my products they are made with care and love.

CEO Of SugaLush

Which product out of your line is your favorite?

That’s like asking a Mother which one of her children is her favorite lol. I love what I do, making quality natural products. My family and I use the products that I make and I enjoy all of them. Each one offers something enjoyable. But if I had to I would say the fragrance free, the milk soaps. I love products that have milk in them and bath soaks it’s very soothing to me.

Is Suga~Lush products safe for children to use?

My products are natural. They are naturally handcrafted with quality ingredients that will leave your skin feeling clean and moisturized. As I stated before some of the ingredients in my products come right from my own garden and some ingredients are organic also. I like use herbs, natural oils and butters, essential oils that will nourish the skin as well as pure fragrances, and natural colorants. I use natural preservatives like vitamin e and make small batches to maintain the quality and freshness of the products. I have some items now that children can use like the fragrance free line.

Will there be a children’s line in the future, because my girls loves smell goods?

In the future I will have products that will be directed to children, but right now I do have products that are fragrance free and are made with milk. I also have a few products that are for people with skin sensitivity like eczema or psoriasis.

What advice can you give someone who would love to start their own business, but is afraid?

Trust and believe in yourself. Have a good support system and love what you do. If you love what you do it will never fell like work.

Do you love what you do?

Yes! I love creating and coming up with new things to do or improve something or simply work my craft.  I’m like a kid in a candy store when I get to mixing things up in what my family calls the lab and me the mad scientist LOL.

Well thank you Marlin  so much for doing this blog feature. I’m sure that this will get your company out there, and my subbies will sure contact you, because they love smelling You can contact Suga~Lush at for ordering, and more information. I will include some pictures of some of the many products she has. Be sure to mention FabolousCurlies for a special discount 🙂

Crafter Of The Month! (Author) Simone Deverreaux

Simone DCrafter Of The Month! (Author) Simone Deverreaux

Hey Loves!

This month I decided that I was going to showcase quite a few of my favorite crafters, along with an author that I am very close to. Simone Deverreaux had a great idea, and worked towards making it happen. She is the author of a series of books that helps anyone that is trying to become an entrepreneur, a blogger, or vlogger. The cool part about this is that she showcases women! That is just awesome. She is uplifting and praising us while helping build us.

With that being said please go and download her first E-book which happens to be the introductory book. It is at a low price for such great information. Please click the link, and check it out. Be sure to leave her feedback on the site as well, she would love to hear what you think.

Simone, thank you so much for letting me feature you, and share your extraordinary gift with my subscribers. You are January’s Fab Crafter!

“Jewels By Adina” Company Feature

  Hey !

It’s that time again for me to feature one of my favorite companies! This time I went to a local accessory designer Aina Freeman! She created the  prettiest bracelet sets for me while I was pregnant with my Prince Amir, and I swore when I started this piece on the blog she would be among the first  featured. With that being said let’s get into it !

When did you realize you had a gift for jewelry making?

I realized I had this gift not too long after I started making jewelry.  I initially made several different sets,  earrings   and bracelets,  and I would get a lot of compliments. I was always asked, ‘Where did you get  these from?” And I  always replied, “I made them  myself.” I remember someone actually bought the  earrings and bracelets I was  wearing one day – they were bright pink and  white. So for the remainder of    the day, I had on no jewelry. I felt so  naked. LOL!!

How do you come up with the different ideas for you creations?

I honestly go to my closet for my ideas. I think I have every single color in my closet. I would get  inspiration from  my  everyday clothes I would wear during the week. If I didn’t have jewelry to wear  to match my outfit, I would go  to my  beads and put something together. If I didn’t that particular  color, I would go buy it and make something. I  also get  great ideas from my customers. I would  show samples of what I’ve made previously, make suggestions  and they  would pick and choose  different items they like. From there I would be able to narrow down a few  different pieces.
I like how you make sure that you’re affordable. Do you believe that since your prices are so low  that it’s easier  for  customers to make special orders?
Yes I do. I actually started because of the insane prices some people would charge for beaded  jewelry (necklaces, earrings and/or bracelets). Who wants to pay $50+ for a couple bracelets? Not  me. Most of the items I have purchased were very poorly made and not worth what I spent for  them. I make sure my customers are happy with the selected beads before I even start making  their item(s). If they like the beads to begin with, I know they will be pleased with the outcome. A happy customer is a repeat customer right?
How do your pieces fit in with you being natural, or another natural?
Choosing to wear your hair natural and your style of clothing are forms of expression. I have lots of accessories in my  arsenal. When you have a lot      going  on already (outfit, shoes, scarf, afro puff, handbag, big fro, flower, headwrap, two strand  twists, updo, etc.), simple, sparkly, custom-made jewels  would  complete any outfit. You can never rock too much arm candy.

Global Couture! My First Company Feature!

Hi Everyone!

I’m so excited to share with you my first feature of a natural hair company on the blog! I promised you guys more, and I’m keeping my word! Thank you so much to Global Couture! You have beautiful pieces, and I’m happy that you worked with me on FabolousCurlies!

                                                                                                                                                                                          Much Love!

Global Coutour 1

My name is Patricia and I am the Owner and Designer of Global Couture ( I am originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan and currently reside in St. Louis, MO. During the day, I am a tenured college counselor and full time doctoral candidate completing my dissertation.

How did you get started?

I am natural and love it! I don’t have the exact date I went natural but I believe my last relaxer was 2009. I transitioned with Senegalese twist for nearly two years and finally mini chopped my relaxed ends May 21, 2011.  I decided to ‘go natural’ because I was tired of dealing with breakage and bad hair days from relaxers.

I decided to begin Global Couture 2 years ago, when I noticed I couldn’t find any accessories or natural hair apparel (mainly T shirts) I wanted to wear, that reflected my new consciousness.

Global Coutour 2

What is your current regimen? What three styles do you wear most often?

I co wash (conditioner only) my hair in the shower about 2-3 times a week. When it’s wet, I apply a leave in and gel. I’ll let it air dry and I’m out the door. I try to deep condition at least once a week using the bagging method overnight. The three styles I wear are my afro, my afro, and an afro puff! LOL. I am the wash n go queen and just let my hair do whatever it wants. I love updos’ but I can’t style or flat twist to save my life 🙂

Global Coutour 3

Where do you find inspiration for your brand?

I would describe Global Couture as fresh, diverse, and colorful. Traveling is my passion. I add stamps in my passport every chance I get! I came up with the name Global Couture and logo because I want my brand to reflect fresh, diverse, eclectic beautyand styles; I appreciate from around the world.

Much of my inspiration for Global Couture ( comes from the various natural hair communities (via blogs, natural hair meet-ups, and YouTube) which I so joyously joined nearly two years ago.  Global Couture is an expression of my love for travel, self-exploration, cultural expression, and creativity. Global Couture designs hair accessories, jewelry, & apparel for the bold, chic, and culturally curious. Global Couture is trying to spread the word about embracing your natural hair and its reflection of our history. “Loving your hair represents loving yourself.” Love your curls, if they are wavy, curly, kinky or coily.

Going back to my roots” during this natural hair journey has been truly self-affirming. Through this journey, I fell in love with the freedom, self-expression, and renewed confidence fostered by a simple ‘hairdo’ change. I found quickly it was more than a hair style change, it became a lifestyle change. I began to take more risks outside of the expected and mainstream forms in beauty, hairstyles, clothing, and accessories. I believe this ‘mini’ transformation paired with my travels through South American, Asia, Europe and the Caribbean has added to my appreciation for various forms of beauty, personal expression and culture expression.

Global Coutour 4

What is your ultimate vision for Global Couture? Where do you see the brand in 5 years?

I currently sell T-shirts, hair accessories, bow ties, earrings, necklaces, totes, iphone cases, and curly girl mugs. I have over 200 additional concepts in the works for my T shirt apparel and accessory line. You can expect to see those in addition to the 93 products that are now available on my website.  I also have a line of wood, gold and silver accessories coming soon!

My vision for Global Couture is to encourage others to embrace the natural beauty in all of us from the inside-out.  I want to continue to grow my business and expand partnerships with local charities.
